Greene County Medical Center recently welcomed Nancy Houska as its director of the foundation and community relations. With more than 25 years of marketing and public relations experience, and 12 specific to the healthcare field, she will oversee fundraising, community relations and Ever Greene Ridge activities along with serving as a liaison to the auxiliary.
Houska began working fulltime at Greene County Medical Center Nov. 4.
“From the moment I interviewed at Greene County Medical Center, I realized this was a special place. I felt a warm, welcoming feeling from the staff and volunteers,” Houska said. “I came on at a busy and exciting time of the year at the medical center, and I look forward to jumping right in and utilizing my experience helping grow the Foundation and meeting the people of Greene County.”
Houska comes to the medical center after serving at Loring Hospital, also a UnityPoint affiliate, in Sac City for 11 years as the foundation and development director. In her role, she managed a successful fundraising campaign for a $10 million renovation project for the hospital, led a team to achieve adding telehealth services for patients administering a $260,000 USDA grant, and assisted department leaders in achieving their growth goals through marketing, advertising and event planning.

We are excited to welcome Nancy to our team,” said medical center CEO Carl Behne. “With Nancy’s healthcare and fundraising experience we look forward to her working with our team to advance the strategic goals of the medical center, the Greene County Medical Center Foundation and Ever Greene Ridge.”
Houska obtained her bachelor’s degree in public relations and journalism from the University of Northern Iowa. She and her husband Pete have three grown children. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and sporting events of all kinds.
